Description
Yeoncheon features clear nature that embodies LOHAS (Lifestyle Of Health And Sustainability). Located in the area is a place one can feel close to the royal families of the Joseon era. This place is called Joseonwangga and was rebuilt after being moved from the King’s house. The house features the antique beauty of Korean architecture along with a contemporary ambience. Visitors can enjoy a stay at the hanok where a prince of Joseon era lived.
It is easy to find palace houses were princesses lived, but this house has value in the fact that it is the only known place where a prince lived. The building's age is not known exactly, but the building is estimated to have been built more than 200 years ago based on the fact that it has roof tiles common in the 1800s. The hanok is comprised of four houses including Yeomgeundang, Sabanjeong, Jeongakmun, and Jaeunjeong. All of them are made of nature-friendly materials such as natural red-clay and cypress, allowing visitors to experience natural healing during their stay. A unique point is the contemporary restroom situated in each guestroom. The owner made an effort to spread the excellence of hanok (traditional Korean house) but realized the need of some modernization, like indoor plumbing, was required. In addition, the houses are equipped with various modern facilities like a seminar room, gallery, therapy room, restaurant, and others related to nature and life. Many business people and academic groups visit this place to enjoy healing, workshops and seminars alike. Not only open to guests using the accommodations, the hanok is open to individual visitors interested in the value and history of this unqiue house.
