Promotion from Demonstration Special Case to Special Permit

In accordance with Article 37, Paragraph 3 of the 「Special Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Technology and Vitalization of Convergence, Etc.」 and Article 40, Paragraph 6 of the Enforcement Decree of the same Act, Wehome has been promoted to the first temporary permit business operator for home-sharing in Korea.

This was possible because Wehome, which pioneered domestic home-sharing under a demonstration special case, faithfully conducted its demonstration project and sufficiently proved the necessity of institutionalizing home-sharing. Since launching our domestic home-sharing service on July 15, 2020, we have worked alongside our hosts to define home-sharing, address business issues, and propose directions for institutionalization. We extend our gratitude and respect to the Wehome hosts who, despite numerous challenges during the six-year demonstration period, joined forces with us to create a new turning point for the institutionalization of home-sharing in Korea.

As of May 6, Wehome hosts were automatically promoted from demonstration special case hosts to special permit hosts. Wehome’s special permit hosts can conduct stable special permit business until full institutionalization is achieved, operating on a professional Wehome platform verified and certified by the government. Basis for Business Registration Issuance

Wehome is a government-certified ICT regulatory sandbox company with a temporary permit for home-sharing. Having completed the government’s verification process over a six-year demonstration period, we are a company that has obtained a temporary permit. In accordance with the guidelines below, special permit hosts who are not registered as Foreigner-designated Urban Bed and Breakfast businesses must submit a business registration certificate. If a special permit host does not have an existing business registration certificate in their own name, they must register their business under the "Home-Sharing" category. Please refer to the information below to issue your business registration certificate. You may inquire with your local tax office regarding the home-sharing special permit.

Requests for Confirmation of Legal Status and Operations from Government Agencies and Local Districts

Public institutions or local districts may request confirmation of legal registration and operation of Wehome listings. Wehome will cooperate within legal boundaries after verifying the requesting agency.
