What is the Shared Accommodation Regulatory Sandbox?
The shared accommodation regulatory sandbox is an ICT regulatory sandbox program that allows for legal shared accommodation for both domestic and foreign guests.
Wehome received a regulatory sandbox approval from the government and became the first in Korea in 2020 to provide legal shared accommodation for both domestic and foreign guests.
Wehome is working together with domestic hosts to revitalize legal shared accommodation.
Wehome, a Company Upgraded to (Temporary) Authorization
Companies verified through the regulatory sandbox can continue their sandbox business until shared accommodation-related laws are institutionalized, following government approval for a transition to (temporary) authorization.
Wehome has completed the verification of its 4-year sandbox business, and the ICT Regulatory Sandbox Committee has approved its transition to temporary authorization. We are currently undergoing the administrative procedures following this approval.
For hosts, this offers the following advantages:
- Sandbox hosts secure a higher level of legal status
- Enhanced stability and reliability for hosts
- Expectation of priority benefits from deregulation following institutionalization
