Regulatory Sandbox Notification and Calendar Sync

Regulatory Sandbox Host Notification

You must provide notification so that the government or guests can verify that the property is a legal accommodation where both domestic and foreign guests can stay. For Foreigner-only Urban Homestay operators, please include the following regulatory sandbox/permit host information in your property listings on other platforms when applying for the shared accommodation sandbox/permit.

Existing Foreigner-only Urban Homestay sandbox hosts should either maintain their existing legal notices or update them with the regulatory sandbox/permit host notification by April 15, 2025.

New hosts who are not Foreigner-only Urban Homestay operators should include this information when setting up Open Hosting on other platforms.

The notification must mention "Wehome Shared Accommodation Sandbox" and the "Sandbox Registration Number."

Example: You must specify that you are a Wehome sandbox host and include your sandbox number, such as: “This accommodation is a Wehome shared-accommodation special-case listing. Bookings by domestic and foreign guests are legal. Special-case number: (the text starting with WEHOME at the top right of the special-case certificate)” Use the text starting with WEHOME at the top right of the special-case certificate as-is.

Foreigner-only Urban Homestay Sandbox Calendar Sync Guide

Calendar synchronization with other platforms is mandatory. For Foreigner-only Urban Homestay operators, please complete this before applying for the sandbox/permit. For non-Foreigner-only Urban Homestay operators, please sync with the respective platforms when setting up Open Hosting. Syncing your Wehome calendar with other platforms, including Airbnb, prevents double bookings. Calendar sync can be managed under ‘My Property’ > ‘Edit Room’ > ‘External Calendar Sync’. You can enter the calendars from other platforms there.

By entering your Wehome calendar information into Airbnb or Agoda, your Wehome booking information will be automatically updated on those sites. Please use the export calendar URL found on the Wehome calendar sync page.

For more details, please refer to [ Calendar Sync Method].

Background on Domestic Legal Accommodation Notification

In accordance with the government's shared accommodation regulatory sandbox policy, domestic guests may stay at Foreigner-only Urban Homestay properties via Wehome or other platforms under Wehome's jurisdiction (Open Hosting). If you accept domestic guests on other platforms without meeting the Open Hosting and additional conditions required by government policy, you may fall outside the scope of sandbox/permit protection. Therefore, you must include a “Domestic Legal Accommodation Notice” in your property information on other platforms. Failure to meet these additional conditions may result in a loss of protection; please ensure you maintain your sandbox number notification and calendar sync. The “Domestic Legal Accommodation Notice” also serves as a way to inform others that your property is a legal accommodation. We ask for your active participation to ensure continuous legal operation and to promote your property as a legal accommodation while maintaining the shared accommodation regulatory sandbox status.

Syncing your Wehome calendar with other platforms to prevent double bookings and including the “Domestic Legal Accommodation Notice” in your property information on other platforms are conditions for maintaining the Foreigner-only Urban Homestay sandbox status. For non-Foreigner-only Urban Homestay operators, domestic guest stays are permitted after setting up [ Open Hosting ]. You must comply with calendar sync, sandbox number notification, and the 180-day annual limit (combined across all platforms). Failure to comply with these two requirements will result in the suspension of your sandbox status, and repeated or persistent non-compliance will lead to the cancellation of your sandbox status.

We regularly verify the maintenance of Foreigner-only Urban Homestay and Open Hosting sandbox conditions by using external calendar sync and external links in your Wehome property information. If calendar sync is not active, the “Domestic Legal Accommodation Notice” cannot be verified. Please check your calendar sync first. If there are issues preventing external calendar sync, please include your property URL for other platforms under Property Management > Basic Information > External Links, and we will verify the notification status using that information.

If there are special circumstances regarding the domestic legal notice and calendar sync, please notify the Wehome Customer Center, and we will handle exceptions on a case-by-case basis.

Situations such as sandbox suspension and cancellation are shared with and managed by the government and local authorities. If a sandbox status is cancelled, the host and the property will not be eligible for re-designation.
